I called this painting "Fascination" because I just can't get enough of it. It started with a painting for my daughter - "A Rose for Shasta" but that was about finding great colors to go on turquoise. Then I wanted to showcase the rose itself and usually I would be ready to move on. But no. I have to paint this again, there is more to say.
You may have noticed the change in my blog design. My thanks goes out to Cynthia at Colorado Art Studio for getting me started. She was brave enough to tackle her blog design with great results so I took a peek at her code and viola- three columns instead of two!

Hi Marcia,
No, I didn't get your response. LOL! I've had days like that. Thanks for letting me know, I probably would have thought it was something I did.
Cheryl
Just so we are all on the same page- Cheryl asked how long it takes to do a flower painting and I accidentally erased her message along with my post.
So here was my answer-
The flower paintings are a process. First I cover the canvas with layers of paint, usually dark colors work best, let it dry. Then I wait for the perfect rose to come along, from there it's two long painting days and one short one for bumping up highlights, fixing edges and playing around with the background.
Thanks for asking! :) M
Love the new design of your blog, emm! That's exactly how I tweaked mine - I was looking for templates and other's designs.
I just saw that there is a miniature show here in Denver starting the end of this month - I think I might take a looksie.
Have a great new year!
Those petals! so exquisite! light and airy and translucent! So beautiful!
Pablo
The rose is exquisite :) I like the new format, I like three sections but can't figure out how to do it. It isn't available on the blogger template that I saw.
Well, all the best for the new year Marcia, sending cheers your way.
regards
Corrine
this is really beautiful you've captured the subtleties in the texture and light in the petals, and it works perfectly against the background colour.
wow, you really captured the luminous qualities of the petals, Marcia-simply stunning!
